HOW DO I GET FASTER
IN SKI CHALLENGE?
Struggling to keep up? Here’s how to boost your speed!

DO YOU AIM FOR MORE SPEED?
This is a question we get quite often from players who are frustrated that the ghosts of others seem to be faster, but they can’t figure out why.
Let’s break it down:
Being fast in Ski Challenge isn’t just about stacking Speed stats on your skis. If you only focus on Speed, you’ll struggle with control, especially on tracks with sharp turns or icy conditions. A balanced setup and the right technique are key to improving your times.
So, here are some tips and tricks to help you get faster:
EQUIPMENT SETUP
- SKI STATS MATTER – Choose skis with a balance of Speed and Carve. High Speed is great for straight sections, but without enough Carve, you’ll struggle in turns.
- AERODYNAMICS – Suits and helmets reduce air resistance, helping you maintain higher speeds.
- ENHANCEMENTS – Use Enhancements wisely, especially for key races where every advantage counts.
- WAX SELECTION – Match your wax type to the temperature of the track for optimal glide.
EVENT TYPES: PREDEFINED VS. CUSTOM GEAR
Not all events in Ski Challenge are the same when it comes to equipment.
- PREDEFINED GEAR EVENTS – Everyone has the same setup, meaning it’s all about skill and the right line. You can copy what the fastest players do—which lines they take, when they brake, and when they accelerate. Since no one has an equipment advantage, mastering the track is key.
- CUSTOM GEAR EVENTS – You bring your own equipment, so strategy plays a bigger role. The fastest line stays the same, but you need to figure out which of your setups works best for the track and your playstyle. Once you copy the fast players’ line, analyze where they lost time and adjust accordingly.
RACING TECHNIQUES
PERFECT CARVING
- Aim for a 45-degree tilt angle when turning—too much tilt slows you down.
- Keep an eye on the carving indicator and stay in the perfect zone for optimal performance.
LINE SELECTION
- Take the most direct line between gates whenever possible.
- Use wider turns to keep your momentum in high-speed sections.
- Plan ahead to minimize distance travelled while maintaining control.
- Stay on the track – going into deep snow off-track will slow you down significantly.
- Know your track – the fastest players don’t just jump in blind; they’ve already raced the track multiple times and know exactly which line to take and where to improve.
SPEED MANAGEMENT
-
Braking slows you down – instead of braking, adjust your line to maintain speed.
- Release pressure in straight sections to accelerate faster.
- Keep your skis parallel to reduce friction and maximize speed.
- Drifting reduces your speed – try to minimize unnecessary skidding to stay fast.
COUSE-SPECIFIC TIPS
-
ICY CONDITIONS – Higher top speeds are possible, but grip control is essential.
- FRESH SNOW – Slows you down, so focus on clean, efficient lines.
- TURN RADIUS – Adjust your ski settings based on the track:
- Smaller radius for technical sections with tight turns.
- Larger radius for high-speed sections where carving isn’t as crucial.
- STEAP TRACKS – More Stability prevents losing balance at high speeds.
- FLAT OR HIGH-SPEED TRACKS – Maximize Speed
COMMON MISTAKES TO AVOID
-
Using the wrong equipment for the track conditions.
- Oversteering in turns – leads to unnecessary speed loss.
- Braking too much – instead, focus on line adjustment.
- Taking overly tight lines that kill your momentum.
- Going off-track into deep snow – this will slow you down drastically.
PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT
- Study ghost runs from top players to learn their lines.
- Focus on one section at a time to refine your technique.
- Experiment with different equipment combinations to find what works best for you.
- Use time trials to practice without pressure and improve consistency.
